Master of Education Concentration
In the Teaching of English as a
Second Language
(International Education Program)
The Master of Education with a concentration in the Teaching of English as a Second Language (TESL) is designed for teachers who are currently teaching overseas and who have a strong interest in second language related issues. It provides the theoretical and practical knowledge to be a competent and effective teacher of English as a Second/Foreign language. Courses are provided in an intensive format and require prior readings, pre-course and post-course assignments. The program of study culminates in a final portfolio. This program has no attachments such as licensure.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must have earned a baccalaureate degree form an accredited college or university. An applicant with a foreign degree must submit official transcripts.
The applicant must have a quality point average of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of 10 courses is required for graduation. Each matriculated student is required to complete a portfolio at the end of the student’s final course.
